To come quickly from one point to the other in Paris the Metro is the transport to use. Busses and cars are so much slower because of the endless traffic lines. The Metro is very easy and quick and there are Metro Stations absolutly everywhere in Paris. To buy a ticket just use the counters down in the Metro. A single ticket valid in all Metro lines for 1 hour (t+ ticket) costs 1,90€, or 10 Tickets for 14,95€. The automatic counters are in all Metro stations and in several languages usable. You can pay cash or by credit card. And here you can download the Map of all lines (there are so many, you will need it):
